I worked in this region for a year, and though I have nothing bad to say about it, I can wholeheartedly say that it’s not where I’d want to live as a 20-something living it up in Las Palmas.
However, a lot of locals live in Ciudad Alta, plus practical, well‑connected barrios like Schamann, La Feria, Escaleritas, La Paterna and Tamaraceite. It’s everyday, good‑value living compared with the beachfront.
Due to its terrain, the city is spread across two levels: the lower city, which runs linearly along the coast, and the upper city.
